Client: Western Heights High School, Rotorua
Project goals: To create a bold and professional looking new pocket folder design to be used to promote this Rotorua high school.
Sam from Western Heights High School approached us to first work on their International Prospectus design. When this folder project became of higher importance, we pushed ahead and developed this first.
Initially the design of the prospectus was going to influence the folder design but as this needed to stand alone, we approached it as a separate design project.
When reviewing the images provided by the school, some of the cultural detail photographs caught our eye, and we decided to use the tāniko/triangle pattern as the base inspiration to create the layout.

We laid out out a series of overlapping rectangles, set on a 45 degree angle, to create this woven, triangle design. These shapes then were able to hold the different images and block colour sections.

The school colours of dark and light blue were used. The inside of the folder was made dark blue, and the business card holder/pocket section was created in the light blue to provide contrast with the school’s dark blue business cards.
The school contact details were printed on the flap, so that once an inserted business card has been removed, the key details will always there.
