Client: Waiariki Women’s Refuge, Rotorua
Project goals: To create a dynamic, eye-catching and easy to use website to support vulnerable women in Rotorua and surrounding areas.
When the team at Waiariki Women’s Refuge approached us at the start of 2022 to create a new website for them, we were delighted to help.
The website needed to fulfill two main objectives – to be a valuable resource for women in need – that is easy to use, easy to update and gives simple access to the information about the resources that the refuge offers. Secondarily, it needed to communicate professionally to partners and supporters, as well as provide a platform to receive donations through.
Starting with the organisation logo, and some examples of previous marketing materials, we chose a bold, colourful website design for this project. Vibrant purples and greens grab attention, while carefully chosen images give warmth and reassurance to website visitors. For fonts, we chose the classic sans serif Montserrat, and paired it with a friendly serif font – Lora – for main headings and calls to action. The serif font was chosen to mimic the script-like font in the organisation’s logo – while having a modern and professional feel.
The 24-hour crisis line phone number is featured prominently across the website. And, importantly the website also has a QUICK EXIT button in the header which redirects users to the stuff.co.nz website, as well as a page with information about how users can hide their visit.
Optimized for mobile use as well as for search engines, this website will perform at a high standard for the whole team, and be a great resource to the local community.
