Client: Wanaka Laser Clays, Otago
Brief: To create a fresh new website for Wanaka Laser Clays – offering laser clay bird shooting in Wanaka, Queenstown and the surrounding Central Otago areas.
Wanaka Laser Clays is run by Wanaka locals Aubury & Sophie. Their new business venture is an entertainment option that will cater to weddings, parties, corporate events and more. Laser clay bird shooting is a great way to enhance an event and give your guests or clients a great experience. It is completely safe, easy to play, environmentally friendly and easily transportable.
First we created their branding– we designed a modern type-based logo, with a little brand mark of two crossed shotguns. The colour palette for the brand was black, white and olive. When pulling the website design together we chose a warm yellow tone for contrast for the calls to action and little visual details.
We used all of the amazing images & video from Jono from Jdsmit Wedging Films & Photography which tonally complemented our existing colour palette. For the homepage design, rather than using a traditional white or light coloured background, we used an olive-toned gradient. We then clear-cut the clay bird shooting machine to sit over top of this, which added some visual interest to the page and helped to break out of a traditional horizontal web design layout.
For another design feature, we pulled out the key features of the product to use on a few of the pages. By doing this we have increased the chances that this information is taken in by readers, as it makes the information more easily digestible.
