Brief: To create a logo to represent a new business offering laser clay bird shooting in Wanaka and the surrounding areas.
Wanaka Laser Clays is run by Aubury & Sophie, a Wanaka couple who have been a part of the weddings and party industry for awhile through their other company Major & Minor. Their new business venture is an entertainment option that will cater to weddings, parties, corporate events and more. Laser clay bird shooting is a great way to enhance your event and give your guests or clients a great experience. It is completely safe, environmentally friendly and easily transportable.
The design brief was to make a logo that had some sort of visual reference to clay bird shooting – either a shotgun or clays. We looked at a range of ideas and the final option chosen was a clear and modern type-based logo, with a little brand mark of two crossed shotguns.
The primary logo has a horizontal layout with the focus on the words LASER CLAYS, with the word WANAKA above in a rounded semi-circle design, and the two shotguns below with the date of business establishment. The secondary logo is then stacked in a circle – perfect for social media or for branding purposes where a more compact brand mark is required. The logo submark features the guns in a cross formation, along with the three initials WLC going around in a clockwise direction from left.
