Client: Linen Affair, Hamilton
Brief: To create a sophisticated logo for a new high-end linen, homewares, interior design and gifts store in Hamilton.
Established by best friends Sherryl and Nita, this boutique linen & homewares store will stock only the finest of bed linen, bath linen, accessories, homewares, furniture and gifts from around the world. They wanted a logo that would portray quality and elegance, so the goal of the branding project was to create a luxury, timeless brand that would appeal to the largely female customer base, and convey quality and style.
We explored four different design directions in the concept phase, with a mix of script and serif font options. Nita & Sherryl had provided images of cotton buds as part of the branding questionnaire, so a custom cotton illustration became a key part of the concept phase.
The chosen design uses a bold, classically styled serif font in all caps. This is supported by a simple, sans serif font for the tagline.
We created a monogram using the initials LA, with the custom cotton illustration intertwined with the letter L. We also created a secondary logo variation in a circle to provide more options for branding, and a custom pattern featuring the full cotton vector illustration, the LA monogram and their tag line “Fine Linen, Interior Design & Gifts”.
For Sherryl and Nita’s business cards we went all out. They chose a beautiful linen card stock and gold foil on both the front and back. The cards were printed by the fantastic team at Pinc in Auckland.
